Banjarbendo is one of the villages in Sidoarjo (East Java) that still has land which has not been optimally utilized. The village covers an area of approximately 130 hectares (ha), with around 110 ha of built-up land, while the remaining area is classified as idle land. Idle land refers to land that is left abandoned without agricultural, plantation, or other productive activities. This issue can be addressed through the CMVP (Community Movement for Vegetable Planting) program, which supports the government’s efforts in improving community nutrition and strengthening local food security. The objective of this Community Service Program is to provide assistance to the local community in utilizing idle land for the development of urban farming of vegetables. The activity uses a participatory method, involving partners directly in each activity. The results of the activity show that partners responded positively and were active in the activity, willing to try growing spinach, kale, mustard greens, tomatoes, eggplant, large and small chilies using donated seeds and seedlings. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase in community awareness and understanding regarding the use of idle land for healthy vegetable production.
