<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">The aim of this community service activity is to provide training to farmer group members on the use of organic waste shredding machines and the process of converting waste into compost and liquid organic fertilizer (POC) in Surabaya. This activity was conducted 2 days from 5 Oktober and 9 November 2023 in Babatan urban village. The methods used in this program include Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA). The results of the PRA indicate that farmers had limited understanding of the use of shredding technology and lacked awareness of the benefits of organic waste management. Meanwhile, the RRA results show that farmers were able to operate the shredding machine properly and understand the process of making compost and POC. This community service activity has provided new knowledge to farmer groups, enabling them to operate the machine and improve efficiency in organic waste management. </dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Natuna Regency holds significant potential in biological resources, including the presence of endemic mangrove species such as Sonneratia sp. (bogem), which are abundant along its coastal areas. However, the utilization of bogem fruit remains limited, particularly as an economically valuable processed product. This community service activity aims to empower members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) in Bunguran Timur Laut District through training in the production of bogem fruit syrup. The methods employed include Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), using educational, participatory, and sustainable approaches. The training results showed increased knowledge and skills among participants in processing bogem fruit into hygienic and marketable syrup. The resulting syrup product contains high levels of vitamin C and has a distinct sweet-sour taste, making it a promising functional beverage and a potential regional souvenir from Natuna. This activity not only supports local food preservation and sustainable use of natural resources but also creates opportunities for household-based creative economic development. Consequently, bogem syrup has the potential to become a flagship local product that strengthens regional identity and promotes economic independence in border communities.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Community service activities were carried out with the aim of increasing the added value of coconut commodities through training in the production of Pliek Ue for housewives in Bireuen Regency. Pliek Ue  is a traditional Acehnese product made from coconut, which has economic value and strong cultural significance in the community. However, the ability of housewives to process and package Pliek Ue  hygienically is still relatively limited, resulting in products that lack competitiveness in broader markets. This community service activity was carried out using a participatory approach through several stages, namely socialization, counseling, hands-on practice in making Pliek Ue  using hygienic techniques, innovation in packaging, and assistance in marketing strategies. The success of the activity was evaluated using pre-test and post-test methods to assess the increase in knowledge, as well as observation of skills in processing practices. The results of the activity showed a significant increase, with participants' knowledge level rising from 40% to 82%, accompanied by an increase in technical skills in processing Pliek Ue . The products produced after the training were of better quality, had a longer shelf life, retained their distinctive aroma, and were suitable for marketing not only in traditional markets. This activity is expected to empower housewives to play a more active role in economic development.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">This community service activity was carried out in Banjarbendo Village, Sidoarjo Regency, with the aim of increasing the utilization of yard land through herbal plant cultivation and strengthening branding strategies and digital marketing of local products. Banjarbendo Village has great potential in the development of herbal plants such as ginger, turmeric, betel, and Javanese ginger, but faces obstacles such as low knowledge of sustainable cultivation, product management, and limited access to modern marketing. The method used was a qualitative descriptive approach with active community participation, especially the women's group of RT 13. Activities included surveys, counseling, herbal cultivation demonstrations, product processing training, and assistance in the use of social media (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp Business) for product marketing. The results of the activity showed that the utilization of yard land can increase productivity, household food security, and economic value through the processing of products such as instant ginger and ginger latte. The implementation of branding strategies and digital marketing successfully strengthened the village's image as a center for herbal products and expanded market reach. This activity serves as a model for sustainable community empowerment by integrating agricultural innovation, product processing, and digital technology in supporting village economic independence.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Banjarbendo is one of the villages in Sidoarjo (East Java) that still has land which has not been optimally utilized. The village covers an area of approximately 130 hectares (ha), with around 110 ha of built-up land, while the remaining area is classified as idle land. Idle land refers to land that is left abandoned without agricultural, plantation, or other productive activities. This issue can be addressed through the CMVP (Community Movement for Vegetable Planting) program, which supports the government’s efforts in improving community nutrition and strengthening local food security. The objective of this Community Service Program is to provide assistance to the local community in utilizing idle land for the development of urban farming of vegetables. The activity uses a participatory method, involving partners directly in each activity. The results of the activity show that partners responded positively and were active in the activity, willing to try growing spinach, kale, mustard greens, tomatoes, eggplant, large and small chilies using donated seeds and seedlings. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase in community awareness and understanding regarding the use of idle land for healthy vegetable production.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">The study aimed to develop and apply liquid organic fertilizer (kocor) in Lordes Farm to improve the growth and productivity of melon (Cucumis melo L.). The production of liquid fertilizer was carried out through fermentation using brown sugar, EM4, humic acid, and urea as nutrient sources, producing a nutrient-rich liquid suitable for soil application. The application was conducted by drenching the fertilizer around the root zone at regular intervals. The results showed that liquid organic fertilizer improved soil fertility, enhanced nutrient absorption, and supported vegetative growth, such as leaf expansion and stem elongation. Furthermore, it improved fruit quality, increased yield, and reduced the negative impact of chemical fertilizers on the environment. The combination of organic fertilizer and drip irrigation system proved effective in maintaining soil moisture balance and nutrient availability. Overall, the innovation provides an environmentally friendly and economically feasible alternative for sustainable melon cultivation in tropical dryland areas.
