Problematika Pengembangan Karakter Disiplin (Studi Kasus pada Mahasiswa STAKPN Sentani)

Orientasi pengembangan pendidikan tinggi yang berbasis nilai dan karakter menjadi hal yang mendasar dan berkontribusi secara signifikan bagi kemajuan pembangunan yang berorientasi pada manusia. Sebagai pusat keunggulan bangsa Indonesia, Perguruan Tinggi dituntut untuk memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk dan mengarahkan karakter generasi bangsa. Perguruan Tinggi juga memegang kendali melalui sejumlah kebijakan untuk menerapkan disiplin bagi mahasiswa. Namun, terhadap problem pengembangan karakter disiplin pada mahasiswa STAKPN Sentani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persoalan pengembangan karakter disiplin pada mahasiswa STAKPN Sentani, Papua. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat problem pengembangan disiplin bagi mahasiswa. Ketidakpatuhan terhadap aturan perkuliahan, terlambat mengikuti perkuliahan, terlambat mengumpulkan tugas, menghadiri perkuliahan tidak teratur, belum adanya kode etik dan aturan akademik bagi mahasiswa menghambat penerapan karakter disiplin. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa gambaran pengembangan karakter disiplin mahasiswa masih relatif kurang. Dalam upaya menumbuhkan karakter disiplin mahasiswa, dosen berperan sebagai teladan, menunjukkan ketegasan dan integritas.
