Abstract

Agricultural waste that has been considered an environmental problem can be processed into valuable resources through the concept of a circular economy, which opens up sustainable waste management and reuse in the production cycle. This study aims to analyze the role of waste banks in encouraging a circular economy as an effort to improve the welfare of traditional farmers. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through literature studies and field observations of the implementation of waste banks in farming communities. The results of the study indicate that waste banks are able to change the paradigm of agricultural and household waste into economically valuable resources, thus supporting the principle of a circular economy that focuses on waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. The implementation of waste banks among traditional farmers not only increases income through the management of organic and inorganic waste, but also strengthens the environmental and social resilience of farming communities. In addition to providing economic benefits, waste banks also strengthen food security and village economic independence through structured and participatory waste management. With the support of regulations, training, and local business models, waste banks are an effective means of realizing sustainable agriculture and inclusive village economic welfare.
