Education On Recycling Paper Waste Into Seed Paper As An Environmentally Friendly Product For Vocational School Students

Abstract

Paper is a material still widely used in everyday life as a medium for writing, printing, packaging, and other purposes. However, discarded or burned paper waste can cause pollution and environmental damage. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide students with training in processing paper waste into recycled paper products that have utility and market value. The activity begins with preparation, including assessing participant needs, gathering materials and tools, and developing trainingmodules. The next stage is the training itself, where participants are given explanations about the impact of paper waste, techniques for processing waste into pulp, printing processes, natural dyes, and the creation of artistic paper. Participants then engage in hands-on practice producing recycled paper and creating simple craft products such as greeting cards and wall hangings. The evaluation phase is conducted through observation of participant skills, the resulting products, and responses to the activity. The evaluation indicates that most participants were able to understand the concept of recycling and produce creative works from used materials. The activity results demonstrate increased environmental awareness and students' practical skills in recycling paper waste into marketable products. Furthermore, this activity encourages the growth of an entrepreneurial spirit and a concern for waste management within the school environment.
