Abstract

This research discusses teacher strategies in fostering learning motivation for third grade students in elementary schools. The research in this thesis is motivated by the low level of student learning motivation in Indonesian language subjects, which aims to find out what teachers' strategies are in fostering learning motivation, and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in fostering student learning motivation. The teacher's strategy in question is the teacher's effort to increase student motivation. Student learning motivation in question is the drive that exists within students to carry out learning activities. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Strategies for fostering student learning motivation used by teachers include: learning planning strategies, learning organizing strategies, learning method selection strategies, learning implementation strategies, learning media selection strategies and learning evaluation strategies. Supporting factors for the growth of learning motivation in class III elementary school students are influenced by several factors, both factors from within the student and factors from outside the student. Of these various factors, the most dominant are internal factors or those that grow from within the student himself. Regarding inhibiting factors, there are several things that are of concern to teachers, especially Indonesian language subject teachers, in implementing learning strategies, including the student factor because the types of intelligence of students in elementary schools are different from each other.
